• In 1989, a small group of dedicated citizens had a dream of providing scholarships to graduating seniors residing in Speedway, Indiana 

• The small group pooled their own funds to establish a local chapter. 

• In 1989, one $500 scholarship was awarded

• In 1990, five $1000 scholarships were awarded

• In 1991, the first annual phone-a-thon was initiated

• As of January, 2013  --  880 scholarships totaling $ 805,800 have been awarded to Speedway students. 

• Scholarships for Speedway, Inc. accepts and receives memorial gifts to fund special scholarships for Speedway residents

• Scholarships for Speedway, Inc. also receives donations from Speedway High School Alumni classes to support scholarships
