7th Grade Social StudiesInstructor: Mr. Grove
Welcome to 7th grade Social Studies! In this class, we begin the year with a focus on the basic principles of social studies, such as: geography, history, political systems, economic systems, culture, and human-environment interaction. The remainder of the year is spent putting those principles into practice as we examine the eastern hemisphere, taking an in depth look at the countries of Asia and Africa, as well as Australia. We examine the geography of select countries on those continents, followed by taking an in-depth look at major historical milestones that have shaped those nations, and end each unit by learning about each country's current political, economic, and cultural landscape.
Every Friday we will do Current Events. This is a chance for students to get extra credit by bringing in a news article from the previous week and sharing it with the rest of the class.
Do not forget to bring a current event each Friday - it is the only extra credit opportunity offered throughout the school year. All you need is a newspaper article for 1 point each week or share it and get 3 …
