At Newby Elementary, we believe all students belong, can learn, and will grow! I am Heather Gorgas, and I am proud to be the principal of this incredible school. At Newby, we serve students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our team strives to build strong relationships with students, families, and the community because we believe it is vital to the success of each learner we serve. We have high expectations for students, both academically and socially, and I'm confident you'll love our school as much as we do!
Our emphasis on the development of the whole child starts with a safe and respectful learning environment. In order for all students to learn, they have the right to feel safe and supported. We expect all students to learn and grow, which is why we work to provide cognitively challenging learning opportunities and relevant life experiences.
Our team believes strongly in school-family collaboration. Families and caregivers are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning. We have a strong parent partnership with SPT (Speedway Parents and Teachers) that hosts several family events each year! In addition to these fun events, they also work tirelessly to support the staff by volunteering and fundraising.
School Town of Speedway is the best kept secret in Indiana. I want to encourage you to visit our school and look forward to another great year!
